Work-study Benefits • Hourly-wages are partially subsidized by government work-study programs • Employers pay between 25 and 28 % of eligible wages • Work-study program subsidized the remainder • Any CU department can participate in the program • Non-profit organizations, who serve the community at-large, can participate • Application process and approval needed from Student Employment Office • Earnings are not reported on the FAFSA • Student may become eligible for more financial aid due to this • Unlike other financial aid, work-study earnings are paid directly to students, so they can prioritize expenses accordingly and more easily attain work-life balance • Work hours can be, and must be, scheduled around class times • Work locations for work-study are conveniently located around campus and nearby off-campus • Work-study positions allow students to gain work experience before graduation • Students are highly encouraged to apply for jobs related to their academic career to gain relevant experience and build their résumés

Hiring a Student Employee Work-study Employee • On-campus – department does hiring, HCM set-up, time collection… Note: Make sure work-study indicator is checked • Off-campus – Student Employment does hiring, HCM set-up, time collection… Hourly Employee Department is responsible for hiring process Required Training – Discrimination and Sexual Misconduct

  7. Notes: • Contact us if you want to convert hourly student to work-study student • Must submit Work-study (WS) Request form if s/he was not awarded WS • Will be awarded WS if a student is a continued WS student with FA eligibility met • Use LTS code if it was a late timesheet

  14. TALEO PURGE Why: Records retention policy – we should only maintain search records for 3 years. If audited (Anschutz is now being audited), only records we have can be reviewed! When: Employee Services will begin this process July 1, 2019. If filled and older than 3 years, only thing that will remain is job posting and individual who was hired. Action Steps: Close out dated postings/disposition applicants We need your help: When closing out - need to create a search summary if search is within 3 year window/disposition candidates.

  15. TALEO PURGE Automate Candidate dispositioning? Purge Cleanup - If filled: move to “not selected” with no e-mail Future: automatic disposition to “not selected –send e-mail” once requisition is filled.
