EOPOWER builds on six FP7 projects GEONetCabGEO Network for Capacity Building • BalkanGEONetTowards Inclusion of Balkan Countries into Global Earth Observation Initiatives • OBSERVEStrengthening and development of Earth Observation activities for the Environment in the Balkan area • SEOCAGEO capacity building initiative in Central Asia • EGIDACoordinating Earth and Environmental cross-disciplinary projects to promote GEOSS • enviroGRIDSBuilding Capacity for a Black Sea Catchment Observation and Assessment System supporting Sustainable Development

What we will do: • Roadshowactivities to promote the increased use of EO products and services for environmental applications • Create a portfolio of potential EO applications for economic development and environmental management • Enhancement of the resource facility on capacity building in the GEO web portal (Cooperation with CEOS). Workshop “Bringing GEOSS services into practice” • Establishment of local focal points (nodes) that actively promote and provide capacity building on the use of EO for environmental applications effectively and at low-cost • Explore the establishment of a high-level forum of stakeholders • Establishment of a central feedback node

Pilot study in Armenia • Making a survey of available EO datasets in Armenia, publish them in a Spatial Data infrastructure (SDI) and register them to GEOSS (linked to FP7 EcoArm2ERA project) • Identifying stakeholders and infrastructures, and moving toward a National SDI. • Setting up GeoNetCast (and associated capacity building) at the Center for Ecological and Noosphere Studies (CENS) • Help CENS become a teaching centreof the workshop "Bringing GEOSS services into practice" • Toward GEO Membership
