Enhancing Mediterranean e-Infrastructures: Eumedconnect3 and Beyond

This presentation by Dr. George Bonas, part of the MoCo Secretariat for e-Infrastructures in the Mediterranean, discusses the status and future of e-infrastructures in the region, particularly focusing on the Eumedconnect project. Eumedconnect2 connects 11 countries, serving around 2 million users and witnessing a network traffic growth of over 50% annually. With significant past funding and various interconnected projects, the necessity of advancing to Eumedconnect3, addressing speed limitations, and political and telecom lobbying is emphasized. Collaborative efforts among Mediterranean research and education networks are crucial for building future capabilities.
