  3. Highlights • Illinois has 5 InVEST programs • Started an InVEST committee with a Young Agent participant • Hosted fundraiser/education session on InVEST

  4. How we got started • Meet local InVEST State Champion • Find current InVEST schools • Volunteer in those schools

  5. Starting new programs • Locate high schools and community colleges in your area • Develop a relationship with school partnership development liaisons (career & technical education) • Volunteer at a career day • Promote InVEST program

Hosting an InVEST Fundraising • Purpose of event: to raise money for scholarships, increase awareness of InVEST and recruit volunteers • Choose a location to host a benefit/silent auction for funds for your local InVEST scholarship fund • Host event in August when teachers are on vacation • Begin promotion in January

  7. Hosting an InVEST Fundraising • Contact people in your network to help host the event– family, association members, companies • Collect items from network to auction at the event • Baseball tickets, gift cards are always hits

  8. Who should attend? • Insurance and education professionals • Waive fee for education professionals • Offer sponsorships to companies and vendors • Invite representatives from other education foundations with similar missions– mentor and after school programs
