  1. Choice Novel To read or not to read, the choice is not yours!  Due Date TBD…

  2. Assignment: As you read, you are responsible for the following: Journal Entries – 50 points • Divide your novel in 10 sections. • After reading a section, respond to a prompt. Each prompt should be different. You should have 10 responses each worth 5 points at the conclusion of your novel.

  3. Journal Entries • Each journal should be written on a clean sheet of paper, front only. The journals may be typed. Or written in your RNB. • Each journal must contain a minimum of 50 words. • Hi-light your textual support—information from the story that supports and develops your idea/s. • Each journal must have the number of that journal, the title of the book, and the segment covered written on the top line. The number of the prompt you are responding to must be written in the left margin next to the first line of your journal response.

Prompt # 13: Emma’s actions in chapter 18 remind me of whenI had to make an important decision that my parents were not exactly happy with. My parents really wanted me to attend an out-of-province college, but I wanted to attend one closer to home. I knew that I would have to make the decision because it would be one that could affect my life forever. After a long debate, my parents finally agreed to let me attend the college of my choice. I learned to stick to my guns when it came to personal decision making.

Assignment:Part Two Literary Analysis – 50 points As you read your novel, you are responsible for finding the following: • Two examples of mood (include the quote and the page number) and describe the mood • Two examples of tone (include the quote and the page number) and describe the tone • One example of author’s purpose or point of view (include the quote and the page number) • Explain how each example (#1-3) relates to the book. How does it enhance your reading experience? Why did the author choose to include it in this part of the book? ~Each example is worth 10 points.

  6. Part Three – BONUS! Works Cited – 5 points Write or type a final Works Cited for your novel. DUE DATE TBD… Sections: 1. 6. 2. 7. 3. 8. 4. 9. 5. 10.
