Education and Experience • Graduated from The University of Dayton (Elementary and Special Education) • Received Master’s Degree in Reading Education from Nazareth College • Continuing education through professional development • Beginning my 25th year as an Intervention specialist • Beginning my 12th year at LaMuth • Taught high school for 13 years prior to coming to LaMuth

  3. Mrs. Henderlich’s Role on the Team • Co-teaching language arts with Mrs. Przela • Co-teaching math with Mr. Moushey • Providing support for students, specifically with those with special needs • Providing support to general education teachers who have an inclusion classrooms • Facilitating the Daily 3 and conferences

  4. Other Duties • One period of small group language arts instruction • One supplemental period • 7B Advisory • Progressing Monitoring students on IEP’s

  5. Language Arts • Read, Read, Read!! This year in class, we will emphasize extensive choice reading. Students will read more than ever before! Our class anchor novels are The Outsiders (Hinton), Fever: 1793 (Anderson). • We will be using the Daily 3 format. • “The more that you read, the more that you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” • -Dr. Seuss • Write, Write, Write! • This year, we will also work on improving our writing skills by using better vocabulary, proper grammar, and strengthening our overall ability. • We will be using The Write Tools for our writing assignments.

  6. NEEDED BY AUGUST 29, 2014 • Independent Reading Log • Spiral Notebook (kept in class) • Highlighters • Pens and pencils • LMS Student Planner • Needed for 2nd quarter The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton • Needed for 4th Quarter Fever: 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson • Needed All Year Access to MANY independent choice novels. OPTIONAL: small comfy reading accessory (cushion, seat, pillow, camp chair)

  7. GRADING • 90-100 A • 80-89 B • 70-79 C • 60-69 D • Homework will be checked on due dates!
