User Basics for Faculty and Staff • Configure your profile: Update contact info., email notifications, and information you want to share with students/staff. • Understandyour Role(s) in Starfish and use appropriate Connection for tasks you are completing. • Find your Students list and tracking items. • View a student folder. • Raise/Clear a flag or kudos, add comments/notes, messages to student, update and clear as needed.

  10. Configure Your Profile • Click Profile in the top frame navigation. • Edit your contact information. Select the email address where Starfish notifications should be sent. • Click the Save button. Students will see your profile information when they view their Success Network

  11. Email Notifications • Go to Profile. Choose Email Notifications. • Select email preferences for type of item and when to send. • Click Save . You can change your email notifications settings at any time.

How to Find Your Students • Click Students in the top frame navigation. • Search for a student by… • Typing the student’s name into the Search field • Choosing your Connection to them • To organize your student list by flag, select the Tracking tab. • You can sort the list by flag name and/or flag status. • You can clear or comment on flags from here. To clear multiple flags at once from the Flags tab: Check off the boxes to the right of the flags you want to clear, then click the Clear Flags link at the top.

  13. View a Student Folder • From your Students list, click the hyperlink of a student’s name. • This brings you to the student’s folder. Depending on your level of access, you will find information on… • Grades (past/current) • Notes (you added/shared with you) • Tracking history (raised/cleared) • From the student folder you can… • Raise/clear a flag • Add a note, update a flag Anywhere you see a student’s name as a hyperlink will take you to their student folder.

  14. Flag Permissions • Your Role in Starfish has been established and determines what flags and information you can raise, view and manage. • Your Connection to students will determine whether you will receive an email notification when an item is raised. **Please see APPENDIX B of the Starfish Training Manual for disclosure of who raises, views, manages, and receives an email for each tracking item**

  15. Progress Surveys • Faculty will receive emails containing links to surveys for each course they teach, prompting them to complete a Progress Survey at weeks 3 and 7. • Simply check the appropriate boxes and click Submit to raise flags. No flags to raise? Hit submit to record your response to the survey. EXAMPLE
