The CSADD Creed Created by CSADD Great Lakes • We are the Coalition of Sailors Against Destructive Decisions • We are Sailors helping Sailors • We are dedicated to making good decisions on and off duty • We are responsible for our own actions and the wells being of our fellow shipmates • We establish the standard representing a good Sailor • We will respect ourselves and other at all times • HOOYAH!

What is CSADD? • CSADD is a program geared at young (18-25 yrs old) to help reinforce our culture of Shipmates helping Shipmates, while preventing destructive behavior and building leadership skills. • The program is different because it gives young sailors the opportunity to help each other through peer to peer interaction. • CSADD helps them to tackle everything from responsible drinking to suicide prevention in a manner which they can relate to.

CSADD Programs in Action • The cornerstone of a CSADD Chapter is discussing issues that cause Sailors to make the wrong decisions and discovering new ways to prevent Sailors from making those decisions. • Each month CSADD covers a different topic to training on and to discuss as a group. • The manner in which the topic is trained is entirely up to the chapter. CSADD gives chapters the opportunity to do things their own way and think of creative ways to tackle the topics.

CSADD Programs in Action (Cont.) • Here are some examples of creative ways chapters train: • Creating posters, videos, or commercials for the monthly topics. • Arranging alchohol-free liberty activities (movie night, day-trips, sporting events, etc.). • Creating Facebook pages to discuss the topics. • Organizing briefs or information fairs for the command.

Energizing Our Sailors to Lead • CSADD also gives an opportunity for even the most junior sailors to lead their peers. • Because the program is up to them, they can make it as structured as they please. • Some chapters have chosen to elect officers and create bylaws to govern them just like other Navy associations would. • Many chapters also hold fund raisers, volunteer together, and even have their own coins and t-shirts!

Starting a CSADD Chapter • The first step starting a CSADD chapter is forming a core group of Sailors (ages 18-25) that are motivated and want to participate. • Next select a Advocate to represent the chapter. This will be the point of contact for the chapter with the regional chapter. • Then present the program to a Senior Enlisted Advisor (CMC, CSC, SEL, etc) to ensure command concurrence. The SEA will also act as the Sponsor for the chapter, or delegate it to an E-6 or higher.

Starting a CSADD Chapter (Cont.) • Once an Advocate and Sponsor have been selected the next step is registering the chapter with the regional chapter. • In order to contact your region just send an email to the program administrator (slide 14) and they will provide you with the POC for your region. • After the region has been contacted they will then add your chapter to their regional chapter roster. • Once registration with the region is complete the chapter is officially established.
