  2. Grauman Chinese Theater The Chinese Theater in Hollywood is the most famous movie theater in the world. Millions of visitors flock here each year, most of them drawn by its legendary forecourt with its footprints of the stars. Yet the Chinese Theater is also a fine place to see a movie in its own right, a spectacular movie palace with a unique history

  3. Cinerama Dome Inside the 72 foot-high dome, the Cinerama is a circular auditorium featuring a huge, curving screen, seating for almost 1,000, somewhat spartan decor, an upstairs balcony, plush comfortable seats, and one of the best sound systems extant.

Egyptian Theater Contributing to the revitalization of the City of Hollywood, the American Cinematheque has restored/renovated the historically significant 1922 theater which is now the American Cinematheque's permanent home, as well as a major Hollywood landmark and state-of-the-art showcase theater.

  5. El Capitan Step into Hollywood's glittering past at the legendary El Capitan Theater, which made its debut on May 3, 1926, as "Hollywood's First Home of Spoken Drama." This grand theater has been restored to its original elegance, boasting a Spanish Colonial exterior and a colorful and lavish East Indian interior designed by San Francisco architect G. Albert Lansburgh.

  6. Imax Exposition Theater In 1998, the original IMAX theater at Exposition Park closed, but they opened a brand new IMAX theater as part of the new California Science Center. It's a spectacular new setting, with the entrance to the theater via a courtyard with features a a fog-fountain and a cascade of golden balls suspended from a purple skylight overhead. Along the way, they upgraded the IMAX theater to is 3-D.
