HURRICANE EARL PROJECTION • Currently a category 3 storm and will likely intensify • NHC track has Earl passing roughly 100 miles southeast of Nantucket • This track is consistent with a sizable cluster of computer models • Average track error 200 to 300 miles this far out • Earl may have category 2 or 3 strength as it passes by

SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND IMPACTS • High seas, high surf, and dangerous rip currents likely Thursday through Saturday • Swells from Earl may approach Wednesday night or early Thursday • Dangerous rip currents likely along most ocean exposed beaches whether south or east facing • Seas will depend upon intensity and track of Earl. Be prepared for potential of: • Seas 10 to 15 feet near exposed coastlines and 15 to 20 feet just south and east of Nantucket • Even higher seas – well over 20 feet – to the right of the track of Earl • Moderate probability of tropical storm force winds over Cape Cod…Nantucket…and Martha’s Vineyard and hurricane force gusts (especially outer Cape and Nantucket) • Chance of heavy rainfall (5+ inches) Thursday night and Friday southeast RI and eastern MA • Wind and rain impacts will occur further west if Earl passes closer to coast and further east if Earl turns further offshore
