  1. Illustrations by: Esmeralda Juan- Perez & Josefina Hernandez First Day, Hooray!

  2. It was lunch time and Ivy took out her raisins, she noticed that two of her classmates didn’t have their lunch.

  3. So she went over to their table, “Do you want any raisins”? Ivy asked. They said, “sure”. Her classmates, Leah and Henry got raisins, but left Ivy with a little bit for herself.

  4. Ivy was upset that she had a little bit of raisins left for her to eat but she was pleased that her classmates had something to eat.

  5. The bell rang, “ ding, ding, ding”, and they ran back to class with excitement to Ms. Bell’s classroom.

  6. Ivy, Leah, and Henry sat next to each other while Ms. Bell read them a book.

  7. Meanwhile Ms. Bell was reading the book, Ivy, Leah, and Henry were enjoying it and they were talking about the characters.

  8. While they were talking, Ms.Bell got upset because she got interrupted, but since it was the first day Ms.Bell gave them a second chance.

  9. After Ms.Bell was done reading the book, Ms.Bell gave them free time.

  10. Meanwhile Ms.Bell was making little books for them to start learning how to read.

  11. Ivy, Leah, and Henry were drawing each other.

  12. When they finished their drawings, they all turned to each other and showed each other their drawings.

  13. When they saw each others drawing they all giggled because the drawings looked nothing like each other.

  14. After a while Ms.Bell said, “It’s clean up time,” so then Ivy, Leah, and Henry helped each other clean up.

  15. It was time for them to go home and Ivy, Leah, and Henry were having so much fun that they did not want to go home.

  16. When Ivy got home, she told her parents that her first day was wonderful and the waiting was finally over!
