  1. Solar and Wind Power By Josh Lafayette

  2. Pros of Solar • More efficient than most alt sources and during time can be much cheaper. • Doesn’t harm any wild life • Can absorb a lot of sun even during highly cloudy days. If a reserve is made • No pollution and silent

  3. Cons of Solar • Can be expensive to fund and to build • Chances of not absorbing enough energy can lead to problems

  4. Pros of Wind • Very efficient, especially in windy towns with open plains • Can be cheap to run after built • Is becoming common amonst mountain towns. • Very silent and no pollution

  5. Cons of Wind • Can be expensive to build • Kills any flying wild life • Chances of not working due to lack of wind • Can be expensive to run

  6. Why not combine? • Scientists are planning to build a giant solar sail to absorb the power in solar wind and might be able to 1 billion gigawatts of power, • Instead of using blades it uses a satellite that uses a charged copper wire to capture electrons that move away from the sun at around 700Km per second

  7. Cont. • Will be able to generate 100 billion times power the earth usually generates. A single one might be able to power most of the whole world. • Will never be able to have to use power plants again. Allowing less pollution destroying forests and wildlife. -

  8. Bad news about making it • Can cost a lot , just to buid a generator to power the whole earth let alone run it. And finding a place to build it. But it might be able to at least power all of USA. • Current power plant workers may need to find jobs if this replaces all powerplants in USA or any in general
