  5. Governance Concerns “Hockey Australia strongly supports the principle of amalgamation and believe that it is in the best interests of the sport to be governed and administered holistically rather than separate men’s and women’s associations. We are aware that a number of competitions within New South Wales are not yet amalgamated. The continued existence of major men’s and women’s competitions is at odds with modern sports governance processes and the direction of our sport’s major funder, the ASC. As such, the Hockey Australia Board is writing to the Hockey NSW Board to strongly encourage you to finalise the process of amalgamation within your State.” – Letter from Hockey Australia to the Board of Hockey NSW, 2011 Australian Sports Commission raises concerns and puts all states ‘on notice’ at 2013 Hockey Australia AGM
