  1. Tools and enablers for building applications for EADS TETRA page 1 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov 2006

  2. Our connectivity to applications • Easy and efficient page 2 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  3. Application platforms offer services to multiple user organizations in EADS TETRA • TCS API / Web Service Interface • AVL server • Unified messaging, SDS – SMS gateway • Voice mail • Database access, professional WAP • IP Packet data Shared application servers VPN Virtual private Network for application page 3 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  4. Fast and cost-efficient application integration through optimized platforms • TCS API (COM/DCOM) with widest range of services especially for time-critical applications • TCS Web Service Interface for easy integration of data applications • Standard OMA/MLP XML interface for AVL clients through AVL server • IP Packet Data interface • Application interfaces utilize network wide services of EADS TETRA network page 4 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  5. TWISP – Benefits for All Parties • For end-user organization • Information about successful implementations of the applications in other project • Ensures that the application supplier has access for all TWISP support services and the latest material • For network operator / network owner • Selected and verified application platforms as OEM products from EADS • Makes it possible to demand that all applications will be developed and verified according to EADS’s instructions • Information about successful implementations of the applications in other project • For application developers • Access for the latest support material, development tools and support services provided by EADS • New business leads in the EADS TETRA networks • Joint marketing activities and material with EADS • For EADS • Complementary products to fulfill our own product portfolio and the customer needs • A powerful and controlled way to distribute confidential support material and tools • Joint marketing activities and material with the application developers • Demonstrations of the EADS TETRA functionality and performance with the best in class applications page 5 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  6. How to join TWISP? • Requests for the membership of TWISP by e-mail to: twisp@eads.com • Fill and sign TWISP Application Form and post it to EADS • After evaluation of the application EADS may provide the applicant with a TWISP Collaboration Agreement to be signed • Read, sign and return two pieces of the Collaboration Agreement to: EADS Secure Networks Oy TWISP Administrator Hiomotie 32 FIN-00380 Helsinki Finland • EADS signs the Collaboration Agreements and returns one copy to the collaborator • EADS provides the collaborator with a user name and a password to the TWISP extranet tool • The partner has joined the EADS TWISP community and may start to benefit of its services page 6 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  7. Operational use of applications is backed up from right terminals page 7 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  8. Unique benefits- easy to use • 2-sided design • Color display • IP55 protection class • Voice feedback • Innovative carrying concept • WAP over TETRA IP • XHTML color browser • Java platform for applications • Aliasing page 8 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  9. Two-sided design – also for applications • Radio side optimised for critical communication • Phone side when display is needed page 9 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  10. Computerise your terminal - JavaTM • Open, public platform for developing customised applications to TETRA users’ needs, now available in EADS THR880i and TMR880i radios • Applications can be downloaded to the radios throughout their lifetime • Over the air • From a PC • Built-in Java platform security page 10 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  11. page 11 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  12. TMR880i, product high-lights • New, approved in Sweden • Same user interface and features as in the handheld THR 880 page 12 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  13. Challenges with applications Network capacity and structure needs to be mirrored against the operative picture to avoid overload on spot. Applications does not work in Direct Mode Release upgrades in system and terminals may affect the functionality of applications so standard solutions are preferred JAVA, WAP etc page 13 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  14. Example of “home made” countrywide application from Finland • Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) • Need to get measures from around 200 points all over Finland, also during crisis Source: Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, Finland page 14 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  15. Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority • Every station sending every 10 min to own area emergency center and STUK using TETRA IP. SDS as backup. Source: Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, Finland page 15 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  16. Technical implementation Source: Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, Finland page 16 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006

  17. Future challenges and visions page 17 - EADS TETRA Terminals Extended – Nov2006
