  3. Insurance • We do not provide health insurance • You are highly encouraged to purchase your own policy • Student Health Center

  4. Captain’s Responsibilities • Proper sign-in with intramural official • 15-20 minutes before game time • WU ID card: must have decal, photo, name and WUID visible • ALL PLAYERS MUST BRING WU-ID TO CHECK IN – ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!! • Assist intramural staff with potential situations • Check email for League/Playoff Updates • Check IMLeagues.com for team schedule • Please direct any onsite questions from yourself or teammates to our staff

  5. Eligibility • All officially enrolled students, faculty and staff, are eligible to participate • Players may participate on ONE co-ed team while participating on ONE men’s or women’s team (Fraternity/Sorority teams are considered a men’s/women’s team) • No Olympic or former professional athletes that have competed in their respect sport within the past 5 years

Eligibility • NCAA varsity athletes are ineligible to compete in their sport or associated sports for an entire calendar year from the conclusion of that particular sports season • Rosters are Limited to 3 former varsity athletes going back 3 years • Played in 2012 – ineligible • Played in 2011, 2010– eligible, max of 3 • Played in 2009 or earlier, no limit

  7. Season • 4 Teams/Division • 2 Regular Season Games – Nov. 18-21 • Playoffs – Dec. 2-5 • Single elimination format • Championships – Thursday Dec. 5

  8. Proper Attire • Jewelry, rubber bands, and strings are prohibited • Medical Alert • Hard Casts are prohibited • Hats and bandanas are prohibited • Tennis Shoes • No boots, sperries, glove-sytle shoes • Shin guards are highly recommended, but not required • Knee braces are permitted with approved protective covers • SUPERVISORS WILL HAVE FINAL SAY!!!

  9. T-Shirt Policy • Teams are encouraged to show up and play in the same color jersey (exception: goalie has to wear a jersey color that differs from both teams) • Pinnies will be provided as necessary

  10. Protests • Only protests based on questions of player eligibility and rule interpretation will be accepted • No protests on judgment calls • Must be done at the time of incident

  11. Officials • Remember they are students too – they don’t deserve to be abused! • Can’t argue judgment calls • Respect the officials. Without them, we wouldn’t be playing.

  12. Ejections • Ejections may occur before, during or after any contest • Ejections may be made by any Intramural staff member • Any ejected player must leave the playing area and facility immediately • It is YOUR responsibility to assist the Intramural staff in retrieving the ejected player’s identification • All ejected players must schedule an appointment to meet with Stephen Crespi before they can participate in ANY future intramural contests; suspensions will prohibit you from participating in all intramurals until reinstatement.

  13. Forfeits and Defaults • Forfeits/Defaults • Any forfeits/defaults will result in teams not being scheduled for the playoffs • Emergency circumstances – please email s.crespi@wingate.edu ahead of time • Short Season & New Sport – we want this to be fun and successful

  14. Sportsmanship • Sportsmanship points are based on your team’s conduct during each contest • 1-5 Rating system per game • Yellow Card(1 pt) = 3 in conduct • Red Card(2 pt) = 1 in conduct • Once 4 pts are accumulated, game will end • Teams must have an average of 3 points to be eligible for playoffs • Ejections are maximum of a 1

  15. Playoffs • Team captains may submit playoff availability preferences by next Wednesday (Nov. 20) at 3pm • Playoffs – Dec. 2-5 (championships on the 5th)

  16. Indoor Soccer Rules • Indoor Soccer rules will be posted on IMLeagues.com • Teams consist of 7 players - Goalie must wear a different color shirt from both teams - Need at least 5 to start • No Jewelry allowed!

  17. Court Layout • Playing Dimensions • Goals – 2 yds X 4 yds • Box – 8 yds X 6 yds • PK spot – 12 yds • PK start – 14 yds X X

  18. Penalty Kicks • During a PK situation, the ball must be placed on the red X • The kicker must be at a standstill and have both feet on red line (2 yards back from X) before attempting the PK X X

Indoor Soccer Rules (cont.) • The Game: • Each half will be 16 minutes with a running clock • 15 minute half, 1 minute stoppage time • 5 minute half time • There are no timeouts • Overtime will be 5 minutes • First team to score and game is over • If still tied, will result in shootout (playoffs only) • Mercy Rule: Game will stop if one team is up by 8 or more goals with 5 minutes remaining in the game (10 goals for CoRec)

Indoor Soccer Rules (cont.) • Walls are in play • Out of bounds • Ball hits ceiling – Indirect Kick • Ball hits wall above padded area (white painted walls) – Indirect Kick • Ball hits a basketball hoop – Indirect Kick • Ball is lodged in side or behind goals – Goal/Corner Kick • Ball exits gym – Goal/Corner Kick • Ball must completely cross over a line for it to be considered out of bounds or a goal. • Ball may be played off all walls and beyond end lines

  21. Substitutions • Both teams may sub on these dead ball situations: • Goal Kick • Corner Kick • Halftime • After a goal is scored by either team • Injury • Yellow Card (required) • Red Cards – play man down

Indoor Soccer Goalie Rules • Special goalie rules due to small playing space • Small Goalie box – marked by red tape • Goalies cannot punt, dropkick, or throw ball in the air • Violation – corner kick • Goalies must roll ball or place ball on ground and kick • When placing the ball on the ground to kick, goalies are protected inside the box • Violation • 1st time – warning • 2nd time – yellow card

  23. Sliding • Any slide will result in an automatic yellow card • Offending player must sub out, even the goalie • Goalies may dive to stop a shot but may not slide

  24. CoRec Soccer Rules • Teams consist of 7 players (can start with 5 players) • Max of 3M/3F in main field of play • Goalie may be either male or female • Female Goals are worth 2 regardless if it is a penalty kick or not • Penalty Kicks: person taking the kick must be of the same gender of the person fouled in the event of an injury • During shootout, must alternate genders and all goals are worth 1

  25. Subs and Fans • Must be outside the gym • Open doors near Athletic Training or on main side of Cannon Complex

  26. Team Rosters • Online Waiver • Your online roster is your roster • No write-ins at court • All players must play in 1 regular season game to play in the tournament • Every team will be scheduled for 2 regular season games
