I’m amazed at how much the children have grown since August. Please continue to work with your child at home with their homework, practicing site words and reading their super reader books. • Box Top Contest 3/10 – 4/4 – please send in box tops • 3/28 – Favorite Jeans and T-Shirt Day • 4/11 – Spring Fair – we will need some volunteers • 4/17 – Easter Egg Hunt – volunteers needed! • 4-18 – 4-25 – Spring Break – school resumes 4/28 • ELA – Unit 9 Amazing Creatures – Key Skills • Letters Gg and Ww – letter and sound recognition • Reading Story – Beetles • Discuss insects • Recognize 2-syllable words • Delete phonemes to form new words • Retell a story, summarize; identify main idea and details, • develop fluency • Match the letter /g/ to the sound /g/ and letter /w/ to the • sound /w/ • Write Gg and Ww • Write, revise, and edit sentences • Math – Unit 5 Geometry – Key Skills • Recognize measurable attributes of objects; length, weight, • depth • Describe objects using a measureable attribute • Recognize and describe 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional • objects • Find and identify 2-dimensional and 3 dimensional objects in • environment • Compare and contrast 2-D and 3-D objects • Identify faces of 3-dimensional objects • Identify shapes regardless of position, size and orientation • Sort objects by defining attributes • Construct 3-dimensional shapes – sphere, cone, cylinder, cube, • rectangular prism • Social Studies/Science • Spring/Easter/Insects Student of the Week None this week Homework • Review sight words each night! • Read your super reader book each night! • Reading: Read “ Kim and Dan” book to your parent. • Writing: Write an asking sentence about an insect.
