Give Me 5 • National program from WIPP & American Express OPEN designed to educate women business owners on how to apply for and secure federal procurement opportunities. • Give Me 5 works to increase the representation of Women Business Owners that win government contracts. We provide accessible business education tools to assist both new and experienced federal contractors. • Women Business Owners could gain more than $4 billion in annual revenues if the 5% contracting goal set by Congress was reached.

  8. What is SAM? Intro to Federal Procurement and a Guide to the System for Award Management (SAM) System for Award Management at www.SAM.gov • No-cost, mandatory and OFFICIAL registration for all federal government contractors • Action Step: Plan to register today

  9. This one web site is planned to consolidate the capabilities of nine different web sites • Right now, CCR/FedReg, ORCA, and EPLS are completed • Action Step: If you had a CCR registration, look for YOUR SAM record today and edit all blank spaces

Functions of SAM • Create your account to access SAM • Register/Update your business record (must have a record in SAM to get paid!) • Search all SAM registrations for prime contractors, subcontractors and teaming partners Intro to Federal Procurement and a Guide to the System for Award Management (SAM)

CCR Registrants Migrate to SAM • If you were previously registered in CCR, you must create an account in SAM to transition and manage your data. • To migrate your legacy system user account, you must first create a personal account in SAM by clicking on "Create an Account" on the homepage. • Once you confirm and login to SAM with your new user account, you will see a message on the user dashboard (My SAM) asking "Would you like to migrate a legacy system account?“ • Click "Yes" to begin the migration process. Before You Register as a New Entity in SAM: Getting Ready Check the SAM Worksheet in today’s handouts • Obtain your business DUNS number from D&B • TIN from the IRS (can be a SSN#) • NAICS to describe your services and/or products • Are you a Large or Small business? www.sba.gov/sizestandards • Have your bank account information available Intro to Federal Procurement and a Guide to the System for Award Management (SAM)

Registering in SAM • Follow the registration process in today’s worksheet • Create an account with a login and password to access the SAM record • Keep your password and login safe • Answer all of the questions, do not skip any • Use the Help Desk as needed 1-866-606-8220 • Update at least annually, ideally check quarterly Intro to Federal Procurement and a Guide to the System for Award Management (SAM)

Tips for SAM Success • Create a document to keep all logins and passwords safe • Make your record visible • Use the FAQs • Start with the basics • You can always edit your record • Make sure you include your web site and • Contact information • Click “Apply” at the bottom of every page • Ask the Help Desk for help, be persistent!
