  3. Sovereignty • The right to govern and the freedom to decide on the actions of your own government

  4. Popular Sovereignty • The right to govern oneself

  5. Autonomy • Self Government

  6. Constitution • A structured list of rules and basic laws that a nation and its people follow and obey

  7. Federal Government • A government that gives the National government certain powers and reserves some powers to the states

  8. Confederation • A government that gives smaller political units, States, certain powers and the limits the power of the National Government

  9. Democracy • A government Where the people of a nation are able to vote and choose their leaders.

  10. Monarchy • A government where the leaders of a Nation inherit their power by birth, Kings and Queens

  11. Constitutional Monarchy • Kings and Queens who rule a nation but follow a constitution and whose Foreign and Domestic Policy is controlled by a Prime Minister

  12. Dictatorships • A government where one person controls and holds all the power of a country by military force or political terror

  13. Authoritarian • A government where all the leaders of a nation hold all the power

  14. Totalitarian • A government where the leaders of a nation try to control everything in the society: the politics, the economy, and peoples personal lives

  15. Economic Systems • A monetary system of a nation in order to create income. Economic way of life.

  16. Capitalism • An Economic System based on a Free Market Economy and the idea of Free Enterprise.

  17. Free Market Economy • Freedom to buy and sell what you want

  18. Free Enterprise • When a person can own, operate, and profit from his or her own business

  19. Communism • An economic system where the government or state controls all economic decisions.

  20. Communism • All economic decisions are for the good of the Community and share the wealth • COMMAND ECONOMY

  21. Socialism • An Economic System where the government controls the basis of industry, transportation, communication, and healthcare

  22. Socialism • The government owns the businesses that is shared by Society

  23. The United States of America • is a Democracy based on a Capitalism

  24. China • Is a totalitarian based on Communism

  25. Canada • Is a Constitutional Monarchy based on Socialism

  26. The Cold War • After World War 2 the United States (USA) and the United Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) started a war against each other

  27. A War of Propaganda • War of words and political threats between the 2

  28. Nuclear Arms Race • The USA and USSR kept building Nuclear Weapons to the point of World Destruction

  29. Race To Space • A competition to see who can get into space first and then to the moon.

  30. The Cold War was fought for close to 40 years. No Blood shed or Bombs exploded

  32. Berlin Wall • The Berlin wall was a iconic symbol of the Cold War. When it was torn down this statement marked the end of the Cold War
