Cape Hateras . By Lydia,kyle,Ian and G age . Cape Hatteras. Hatteras island is off the coast of N.C. It is a barrier island. You can only reach publicly by 3 ferries by water but you can get there by highway 12 .Hatteras has man made canals. It is less than 5ft above sea level. Ask.

  2. Cape Hatteras Hatteras island is off the coast of N.C. It is a barrier island. You can only reach publicly by 3 ferries by water but you can get there by highway 12 .Hatteras has man made canals. It is less than 5ft above sea level.

  3. Ask We asked how the flood waters effect citizens of Hatteras. The salt water is ruining highway 12 and getting in the water system. When you drink salt water it dehydrates you. If you get very dehydrated you will die . So we needed to find another way to way to deliver the fresh water and some way to keep there fresh water supply safe .

  4. imagine Are group is in imagine in the engineering design process .We went through many ideas such as delivering jugs of water by a boat. But finally we decided to have a big containers with a gap between the 2 big containers they held fresh water inside of them. Then a boat will stop and load jugs of fresh water . Then the boat would deliver fresh water to the people.

  5. Plan We drew it out and figured out we would have a house , containers with a water pools besides them. The containers are taller than the flood . We will replicate the flood with saran rap colored blue ( not fully ) with sharp markers finally we where ready to be in the create in the engendering design process.

  6. Create Are group started to create are model. We made a the water containers out of tin cans .We used blue play-doh to make the water systems pools to hold clean water .Then we built a house the long leg stilts out of clay . And built the house out of card board and we made the roof out of fouled paper. Finally we were done with create.

  7. Improve • We improved our project by surrounding our house with clay so it would stand up better. Also we added a filtering system in the water tanks sp it could go through the process quicker.
