This guide outlines essential capitalization rules regarding geographical names, book titles, and trade names. It emphasizes that names of regions and significant place names should be capitalized, such as "North" and "South" when referring to the Civil War. Nevertheless, general compass directions are not capitalized, e.g., "south of here." Titles of books, magazines, and newspapers require italics or underlining, with specific capitalization rules for principal words. Additionally, product trade names are capitalized, although the generic product types are not.
