    2. Definition Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is defined as a mean pulmonary artery pressure greater than 25 mmHg at rest or 30 mmHg with exercise, as measured by right heart catheterization

Classification Initially classified as idiopathic and secondary pulmonary hypertension WHO classification Group 1: Pulmonary arterial hypertension sporadic idiopathic PAH, familial IPAH, collagen vascular diseases (scleroderma, RA, SLE), congenital heart disease, HIV, Appetite suppressants, stimulants

    4. Classification Group 2: Left heart failure Left atrial, ventricular or valvular disease Group 3: Hypoxemia, respiratory disease COPD, Sleep disorders, alveolar hypoventilation Group 4: Chronic thrombotic, embolic dx Group 5: inflammation, mechanical obstruction, extrinsic compression sarcoid, histoiocytosis, fibrosing mediastinitis, pulmonary venous obstruction

    5. Signs and symptoms Exertional dyspnea, lethargy and fatigue Chest pain, exertional syncope, peripheral edema due to right heart failure Anorexia, abdominal pain (RUQ) due to hepatic congestion Cough, hemoptysis, hoarseness due to compression of L recurrent laryngeal nerve

    6. Diagnosis Goal: Determine it patient has pulmonary hypertension and determine underlying cause
