Definition • “A forceful action or procedure (as an unprovoked attack).” • Usually used to show control, not to hurt
Make the Student Aware of Concerns(Plan A) • Define what is considered aggressive (mild vs. severe) and a cooperative act to go with each • Consistency is key (mild consequence for a mild aggressive behavior)consequence should parallel the behavior • Reinforcing cooperative behavior will reduce aggression • Increase praise of cooperative behavior
Teach Students Skills To Prevent Aggression(Plan B) • Consistent with inappropriate behaviors • Provide students with lessons on being cooperative (create a small group or ask for assistance from an administrator or school counselor) • Role play or review real situations; give “homework” for students to practice skills learned • Reinforce appropriate behaviors3-1 Positive to Negative reinforcement
