  1. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh

  2. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Upbringing His Mother – Puts us to shame in her spirituality.

  3. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Upbringing Sundar says “She early impressed on me the rule that my first duty on rising in the morning was that I should pray to God for spiritual food and blessing, and that only after so doing should I breakfast.

  4. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Upbringing Although at that time I was too young to appreciate the value of these things, yet later on I realized their value, and now, whenever I think of it, I thank God for that training,

  5. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Upbringing At times I insisted that I must have food first, but my God-fearing mother, sometimes with love and sometimes with punishment, fixed this habit firmly in my mind, that I should first seek God, and after that other things.

  6. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Upbringing and I can never be sufficiently be thankful to God for giving me such a mother, who in my earliest years instilled in me the love and fear of God.

  7. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Upbringing Her bosom was for me my best theological school, and she prepared me, as much as she was able, to work for the Lord as a Sadhu.”

  8. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Upbringing “From my earliest years my mother impressed on me that I should abstain from every kind of sin, and should be sympathetic and helpful to all in trouble.”

  9. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Upbringing “I believe that every religious man has a religious mother.”

  10. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Conversion Sundar says that this day “The old Sundar Singh died and a new Sundar Singh, to serve the Living Christ, was born.”

  11. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Life of a Sadhu “Follow me”Matthew 4:19 “I am no worthy to follow in the footsteps of my Lord but like Him, I want no home, no possessions. Like Him, I will belong to the road, sharing the suffering of my people, eating with those who will give me shelter, and telling all men of the love of God.”

  12. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Life of a Sadhu And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." Matthew 8:20

  13. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Life of a Sadhu With child-like simplicity, he sought step by step to follow literally the example of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  14. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Life of a Sadhu Samuel Stokes wrote: “The man who suffers against his will speedily becomes a physical wreck; but if he suffers of his own free will, impelled to do so by his ideal, there is hardly any limit to his powers of endurance. This I have seen in Brother Sadhu Sundar Singh and in Hindu Bhagats (devotees), and know from what I myself have undergone.”

  15. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Divinity School & Nominal Christians In the end, of his time at the Theological Seminary he said “I learnt many useful and interesting things no doubt, but they were not of much spiritual profit.

  16. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Divinity School & Nominal Christians There were discussions about sects, about Jesus Christ and many other interesting things, but I found the reality, the spirit of all these things, only at the Master’s Feet.

  17. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Divinity School & Nominal Christians When I spent hours at His Feet in prayer, I found enlightenment, and God taught me so many things that I cannot express them even in my own language. Sit at the Master’s Feet in prayer; it is the greatest theological college in this world.

  18. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Divinity School & Nominal Christians We know about theology, but He is the source of theology itself. He explains in a few seconds a truth that has taken years to understand. Whatever I have learnt has been learnt only at His Feet. Not only learning but life, I have found at His Feet in prayer.”

  19. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Tibet “I never expect to return from Tibet”.

  20. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh The Fast Romans 8:5-17 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

  21. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh The Fast Romans 8:5-17 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

  22. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh The Fast Romans 8:5-17 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

  23. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh The Fast Romans 8:5-17 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

  24. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh The Fast Therefore, brethren, we are debtors--not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Romans 8:5-17

  25. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Sufferings and Deliverance “But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish … that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death...” Phil. 3: 10

  26. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Sufferings and Deliverance “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So then death is working in us, but life in you.”2 Cor. 4:8-12

  27. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Sadhu’s Statements about Sufferings: “There is only one comfort in the midst of all these troubles. They are all endured for the sake of the Cross. For my sake, Christ left heaven and endured the suffering of the cross. If I for His sake, in order to save souls, have left India and have come to Tibet, that is no great matter. But if I did not go, that would be sad indeed: for it was surely my duty to go.”

  28. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Sadhu’s Statements about Sufferings: “From these hermits I learnt a great lesson. For these people go through all this suffering to gain that which is nothing at all. They do it to reach Nirvana, which holds out no prospect of a future life and heavenly joy, but only leads to the extermination of life and spirit and all desires. This is their idea of salvation. How much more ought we to serve Christ and lay hold on eternal life, and in His service joyfully take up the Cross for His sake, who has given and will give us heavenly blessing!”

  29. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh Sadhu’s Statements about Sufferings: “I am very happy; how sweet it is to suffer for His sake”. Sundar later explained that it’s not that the suffering itself is enjoyable but that when one suffers for Christ, the pain is transmuted into joy.

  30. The Life of Sadhu Sundar Singh “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.”John 12:24
