CLEAR LEARNING TARGETS • Describe the purpose of the FAME project. • Know difference between formative and summative assessment. • Understand the importance of Clear Learning Targets and Descriptive Feedback. • Set up PowerSchool App and input formative scores with feedback into I-Pad Mini.
MEETING AGENDA • Develop Team Norms Activity. (20 min.) • FAME Question and Answer period. (20 min.) • Read Formative Assessment Article. Round Robin Sharing. (30 min.) • Dansville Video: CLT and Formative Assessments. Note taking, Partner Sharing, and written response. (60 min) • Training with I-PAD Mini for using PowerSchool to record Formative Assessment feedback. (30 min)
FAME Question and Answer • What does FAME stand for? • What is the purpose of FAME? • What are the responsibilities of the FAME team? • How does this connect to the teacher evaluation goal? • What support will each FAME team member receive?
FAME Team Norms • Norms are guiding behaviors and expectations to ensure productivity of a group of people. • Task #1: Complete planning Norms sheet using the reference guide as support. • Task #2: A list of brainstormed norms will be written and displayed. Team members will complete a brainstorming exercise to narrow down and agree on Team Norms.
John Hattie Research • Self Reported Grades/Student Expectations ranks 1st with a positive impact of 1.44 • Formative Evaluation ranks 4th with a positive impact of .90 • Feedback to Students ranks 10th with a positive impact of .75 • Strategies with a correlation of success over .40 is considered to have a significant impact.
Formative Assessment Article • Task #1: Individually read the two page article of Summative vs. Formative Assessment. Highlight important details and write margin notes when possible. • Task #2: Golden Line Strategy. Choose two things that spoke to you and why. • Task #3: Round Robin sharing. Each person shares their golden lines. Just share but no questioning or discussing. This is just a formative check for understanding.
Dansville Standards Based Video • Please watch video segments that highlight the journey of Dansville schools in developing Clear Learning Targets and Formative Assessments linked to CLT’s. • Task #1:During video complete left column of metacognitive thinking guide. • Task #2: After video, complete questions and thoughts column on thinking guide. Take turns sharing both columns with a partner. • Task #3: Write a short response to each of the three video questions.
PowerSchool App for I-Pad Mini • Short presentation of how to set up the app on your I-Pad mini. • Task #1: Download PowerSchool App on I-PAD mini.
End of Day Feedback • Task #1: Please complete Feedback form. Do not put your name on the form. • To make it more than a Formative Check for me, I will send by e-mail the feedback received so it becomes a Formative Assessment.
