  1. 16th WMO Congress 16 May - 3 June, 2011 Geneva, Switzerland Future Vision &Implementation for CAgM Byong LEE & Federica Rossi CAgM

  2. WMO Priority Areas & CAgM Global Framework for Climate Services; Aviation meteorological services; Capacity-building for the developing and least developed countries; Implementation of the WMO Integrated Global Observing System (WIGOS) and WMO Information System (WIS); Disaster risk reduction

  3. Key priorities for 2011-2014 from CAgM Strategic Plan • Develop enhanced servicesfor agricultural, livestock, forestry, rangelands and fisheries communities and partner agencies; • Support agrometeorological training at regional, national and local levels; • Encourage development of knowledge sharing interface between scientists, extension services and agricultural decision-makers; • Encourage sharing of resources among WMO Members & other organizations to create synergies

  4. Implementation Strategy for CAgM • Improved Quality and Quantity of Services for Members (Resource Sharing) • Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS) • WAMIS Next phase • Regional Pilot projects • National Agrometeorological Station Network (NASNET) • Education/Training/Outlook • Utilize regional training partners (i.e. RMTCs)

  5. Implementation Strategy for CAgM • 3) Improved Communication with CAgM Members • Global Federation of Agmet Societies (INSAM next phase) • Joint Expert Group on Climate, Food, Water • 4) Collaborations with relevant international programs/institutions (FAO, UNCCD, etc)

  7. Implementation of WAMIS next phase Web Portal Information sharing XML-based service Machine translation Operational applications Tutorial interfaces for real practices GRID Portal Resource sharing Forecast-based AgMet Services for researcher / extension Hosting online Agmet models for members (AMBER, DSSAT) Coupling NWP output for Agmet applications Multimodel ensemble of Seasonal Forecasts GISC / DCPC dedicated to WAMIS will be established

  8. National Agrometeorological Station Network (NASNET) Climate Change Monitoring Tall Tower Observation Water Cycle Monitoring Global WIGOS Reference Site Boundary Layor Monitoring GHG Background Monitoring Climate Change Landmark - Data standardization at global scale - GEOSS supporting hub - WIGOS regional center - GEOSS demonstration site How to integrate existing and proposed Agmet networks into GTS and WIS
