In Health Wellness Center Maharashtra, the Primary Health Care Services under National Health Programmes (NHPs) are integrated with Ayurved, Yog & Naturopathy in order to provide a holistic approach towards prevention and health advocacy. • Ayurved services focus on healthy diet and lifestyle along with Yoga practices to achieve a healthy & productive life. Providing Comprehensive Primary Health Care with more emphasis on preventive care through promotion of healthy life style. • The use of home remedies and promotion of medicinal plants cultivation are also an integral part of HWCs in Maharashtra. • Various promotive, preventive, curative & rehabilitative activities will be provided along with screening and diagnostic camps in the community. • The Ayurveda graduate in Maharashtra is recognized by the State Government to practice Allopathy (modern medicine) as per amendment in Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act, 1961. Hence he may provide services of Ayurved, Allopathy, Yog & Naturopathy according to need of patient & disease condition. • Monitoring of the National Health Programmes (NHPs) will be intensified in the catchment area of these HWCs.

Services • Comprehensive Maternal Health Care services to be provided in those sites equipped to service as “delivery point” • Comprehensive Neonatal and Infant health care services • Comprehensive Childhood and Adolescent health care services • Comprehensive Contraceptive services • Comprehensive Reproductive Health services  • Comprehensive management of communicable diseases • Screening and Comprehensive management of Non- communicable diseases  • Basic Ophthalmic health care services • Basic ENT care services • Screening and basic management of Mental Health ailments • Basic Dental health care • Basic Geriatric health care services

Ayurveda & Yoga Integration Maharashtra has decided to integrate the services provided at HWC with Ayurveda & Yogcomponents for a preventive & holistic approach towards health of the community Preventive or outreach activities • Preventive practices in Ayurveda • Aahaar(Diet) and Vihaar (lifestyle) • Dincharya/Ritucharya/Rajaswalaparicharya (Menstruation Period), • Yogasanas & Pranayam • Home remedies for minor ailments • SuprajaConcept ( Ayurved concept for healthy baby. It consist of Pre- Antenatal & Post natal care.) • Medicinal Plant cultivation and use Clinical activities • OPD cases to be treated with Ayurveda medicines • Anaemia intervention

Activities of HWC team • At the HWC • OPD at HWCs • Weekly meetings, Training & Monthly reporting • Outreach: • Peripheral OPD in villages • Home Visits • House-to-House Surveys • Monitoring of NHPs, Village Health and Nutrition Day (VHND), Immunization sessions etc. • Health promotion & Community Level Interactions with the AWWs, ASHAs, SHGs, School students, panchayats etc. • Organization of various screening and diagnostic camps • IEC/BCC activities related to healthy diet & lifestyle, common illnesses, home remedies for common illnesses etc. & Health advocacy • Promotion of Yoga practices and Medicinal Herbs plantation • Street shows and group activities

Current status of HWC • Total 30 sub centres are functioning since Feb 2017 in two districts high MMR & IMR prevalent, high target population, low availability of health services in the area etc. • 20 Tribal SCs in Vikramgadh, Jawhar & Mokhadablocks of Palghar district • 10 Non Tribal SCs in Malegaon block of Nashik district • 250 HWC will be functional in December end. • Additional 500 HWC demanded in supplementary PIP. They will be functional in Feb 2018. • Baseline data of both the districts regarding the number and population of the villages under the SC, physical (infrastructure & equipment) and human resources has been collected • Ayurveda doctors are trained and working as HWC MO (Mid level service provider), providing preventive and curative services at SC and in the community • Renovation & repair works, purchase of medicine and equipment in process at district level

  20. HWC training modules Prepared by HFWTC, SHSRC & AYUSH Cell National Health programme module Ayurveda Training module Training modules for MO/ANM/MPW/ASHA have been prepared and training sessions will be organized in January 2018. HFWTC, Nashik is nodal agency for HWC training.
