  1. CANARIE Network Enabled Platform (NEP) ProjectSAFORAH Deliverables Review Q3 Project Collaboration NRCan Pacific Forestry Centre (D. Goodenough, H. Chen, A. Guan, B. Moa) University of Victoria (R. Sobie, P. Armstrong, A. Agarwal, I. Gable, R. Desmarais) NRC Ottawa (R. Impey, W. Podaima, A. Charbonneau)

  2. Activity 1: Beta-1 Prototype Evaluation Test end-to-end functionality End-user testing Prepare Beta-1 Prototype Evaluation document

  3. Activity 2: System Design Document • Revise System Design Document V1 • Prepare System Design Document V2 • This document has been revised to include sections about new development, including job and resource monitoring, new EO applications, and round robin metascheduling

  4. Activity 3: Beta-2 prototype • Identify production clusters • Mercury at UVic and Venus at NRC Sussex • Deploy GT4 middleware on production clusters • globus4.rcf.uvic.ca and silicon.sao.nrc.ca • Identify additional EO applications • Carbon mapping • Consult with cluster managers • Done as a part of deploying GT4

  5. Activity 3: Beta-2 prototype • Deploy MS and RS on production-grade hardware • Done earlier in the project, described in Infrastructure Document • Develop job and resource monitoring system • Resource monitoring done with Nagios • Prototype job monitoring done, final in Q4 • Implement round-robin metascheduling algorithm • Finished in Q3, location-based in Q4

  6. Activity 4: Meetings and Reporting • Group Meeting • Quarterly report for CANARIE • Impending

  7. Globus’s Future • SAFORAH-CGS is built on GT 4.0 • GT 4.2 was not widely adopted, as it is incompatible with 4.0 • GT 5 is (mostly) GRAM-2 and pre-ws GRAM4 compatible • Crux will replace the Globus container • a set of plugins for Apache CXF web services framework • We can continue to use Integration Service with GT4 container • If production resources use GT5, we can use Condor 7.4 or later with Gavia, which supports GT5
