We have looked at the definition of partial derivatives and how to calculate them numerically • In these cases, what we found is a derivative of z with respect to one variable while holding the other constant • It turns out we can use the same notion of holding one variable constant along with our rules off differentiation from previous calculus classes in order to compute derivatives algebraically • Let’s look at some examples
