  1. Good Preparatory Work Ensures a Great, Functioning Wood or Other Stove Wood burners and similar stoves have been popular for many, many years. Nobody will deny that homes, hotels, restaurants and other commercial premises in countries with longer winters than many others need more warmth for atmosphere and ambience than those in dry, hot climates. Therefore, properties in countries with more rain, cool and cold days such as, say, the UK will most likely benefit from additional warmth such as provided by, for example, wood- burners, or those that are fuelled by other materials - stoves that can be termed multi-fuel stoves. The stove itself, obviously, is of great importance, but then so are other issues, such as the builder or stove fitter whose services you employ. It is important to find the best stove fitter that will do a good job fitting the best stove, but at the same time you want to know that this person or company ensures that all important preparatory work is seen to in order to offer you a finished project of high quality. Some of this preparatory work would involve making sure that the fireplace is meant for the stove you want to fit in the available space. If not, the fitter/builder should know how to make it bigger, how to go about the appropriate renovations to allow the stove to fit. It goes further: you want to be sure that the flue that directs the smoke and gases from the burning logs to the outside, is the right size in terms of width and length, made of a strong material such as flexible stainless steel and that it offers the correct lining to assist with keeping warmth in, and dangerous gases and smoke out. There are different flue liners available on the market, and the fitter of your stove should be able to offer you the necessary advice in terms of the options, their prices and how long they will last. A good flue liner protects you from smoke as it sends the smoke upwards and out, and of course it insulates the chimney much better than one without as it forces heat into the room. As important as the stove and the flue liner, a chimney liner should receive proper attention – once again by the company you employ to make sure you have a good system. The

  2. chimney liner fits on the inside of the chimney and can be made of materials such as clay or metal such as stainless steel, for example. All of these have their own advantages and disadvantages: a good service provider should be able to lead their client and advise them of the best options for their specific budget and circumstances. A chimney liner, in addition to the flue, serves a few important purposes, such as some that are mentioned here: it helps to prevent overheating of your chimney, thereby extending its lifespan; a strong lining may help to reduce the chances of a fire breaking out since it will form a barrier between the fire and flames and the chimney itself; it offers energy efficiency (keep cold out and heat in); it helps to keep dangerous gases out. The aforementioned benefits are just some that an owner should remember when he/she is ready to have a stove installed, or when they replace an older model with a new one. Some owners may be great at DIY and will therefore undertake all of these processes by themselves; however, most would be looking for an experienced, trusted firm to assist them. Therefore, if you are keen to have a wood or even multi-fuel stove installed in your home or any area where you want warmth, make sure you deal with a firm that offers experience and a good name when it comes to fitting stoves, flue liners and chimney liners.
