Meeting with Mayor to discuss installation of pipeline • Alcalde (Mayor) Ingeniero Romeo Jose Barillas (alcaldiaopico@yahoo.com, 2331-3001) • Travelled to Alcaldia (Mayor’s office) with Alfredo Torres (member of LD ADESCO) on Tuesday June 12, 2012) • Got on waiting list at 8:30 & met with Mayor at 10:45 • Requested help digging trench and installing PVC tubing. Alfredo had official letter from ADESCO • Mayor knew about project (had been contacted by Ana Maria de Keene – honorary consul of El Salvador in Philadelphia) and agreed to help with everything including supplying the 4” (supply) and 2” (distribution) pipes. • Questions from mayor: • Is 160 PSI PVC acceptable? • Do you want cemented PVC or rapid connection? • Will send an engineer to evaluate poject. • Other questions (from RAC) • Location of valve boxes, air bleeds, T’s, cleanouts • Should prepare detailed plan to send to mayor ASAP

Distribution of Work • EWB-MAP • Overall project management and communication between parties • Updating design verifying that work meets design specs. • Long term planning • FIAT (Sister Gloria) • Purchase of last minute supplies, order trucks of materials, submission of receipts to Rotary for reimbursement. Storage of supplies. • Organizing volunteers, hiring one mason • Las Delicias ADESCO • Organizing community labor (each house volunteers 1 day or pays $6 for another person to do the work) • Ensuring secure storage of supplies • Communication with Alcaldia • Daniel Rivera (Rotary San Salvador) • Purchase of supplies (1 week notice): rebar, concrete • Payment of supervisor and mason (hire one mason) • Local project management and oversight of supervisor (Miguel Martinez) • Alcaldia San Juan Opico • Installation of two lines (4” supply and 2” distribution) of tubing in the same trench between Calle Principal and Tanks.
