  2. 6th Grade Section • Justice King answered a few questions about 6th grade for us! • -What’s the best part about 6th grade? Answer: The dances! • -What’s one thing you’d tell the incoming 6th graders? Answer: Mrs. Epps is cool! • -What’s one thing you’ll miss about 6th grade? Answer: Her brothers Micah and Deonte King!

  3. Updates • Book Fair ends March 25th, 2011. • Baseball and Softball game at Butner Stem their rivalry on March 28th. • March 28th patrolman come to Hawley and tell us about abusing. • Band Concert at 7:15 at Hawley. • March 30th the Lady Hornets soccer team plays Butner Stem there our rivalry. • March 31st are the Spring Pictures. • April 1st is a snow make-up day. • April 4th 8th grade field trip to the beach. • April 5th Lady Hornets Soccer Team plays Northern Granville. This is an home game. • April 11th Baseball and Softball team plays Terrell Lane Home. • April 15th Early Release. • April 18th Spring Break. • April 25th is the end of the Can Food Drive

  4. 7th Grade Section • Question and Answers: • What is your favorite part about 7th grade? “I get to hang out with my friends and have a great time.” –Hunter Mundy • What is your least favorite part about sixth grade? “We have to pay for patio, I don’t think we should have to.” – Destiny Harris • Are you excited for 8th grade? Why? “Yes, I am one step closer to high school.” –Katie Dillard

  5. Student Q&A • Q: What is your favorite part of being in middle school? • A: I really like the teachers. –Terrence King • Q: Do you like the Dances? • A: Yes, I do. –Katelyn Turner • Q: What is your favorite subject? • A: My favorite subject is Science, I love experimenting. -MJ Hester

  6. 8th Grade • Eighth grade students are to turn in their registration sheets for high school to Mr. Griffin by March 29. • Both teams are currently working on a Social Studies project for the Civil War. • Kauffmann’s team has a spelling test Friday March 25.

  7. Cafeteria • The lunch schedule for this week is: • Monday: Beef Rib Sandwich, Chicken Fajita, Whipped Potatoes, Lima Beans and Mixed Fruits. • Tuesday: Chicken Filet Sandwich, Mac and Cheese with Ham Bits, Turnip Greens, Baked Potato Rounds, Great Northern Beans, Cherries and a roll. • Wednesday: Hot Dog with Chili, Turkey with Gravy, Cole Slaw, Broccoli with Cheese, Baked Beans, Spiced Apple and a Roll. • Thursday: Lasagna, Corndog, Green Beans, Oven Baked Fries, Peaches and a Breadstick. • END OF MONTH! • Full Price Lunch…………$2.00 • Full Price Breakfast……...$1.25

  8. Hawley Sports • Softball- The lady hornets are 4-0 this season. They’re next game is Monday, March 27th. They will be playing Butner Stem. • Baseball- The boys baseball team is 4-0. They’re next game will be Monday against rivalries, Butner Stem. • Girls Soccer- The Lady Hornets record is 1-1. They have also tied against their opponets.

  9. Student of the Week • This weeks student of the Week is awarded to 6th grader Xavier Parker. • Xavier was recognized by Mrs. Ward for helping her willingly with the recycling program. • She said the great thing about Xavier is that he is eager to run errands and help with whatever is needed.

  10. Library Corner • Josh Rigsbee is in the library always getting books, so we wanted to know what his favorite book was. He said his favorite book was The Bride of Anguished English By Richard Lederer because it is full of misspellings and advertisements gone wrong. He has read this book about 3 times and he recommends it to anyone and everyone. He also thinks that more books like this should be in the library.

  11. Teacher’s Corner 6th grade teacher Mr. Prady was asked some questions about what being a teacher is like. Q. Is being a teacher fun to you? Why? • “Most of the time, I like to make math fun and relevant to the students.” Q. After an aggravating day of teaching, what do you do to relax? • “To relax, I like to go run for about an hour.” Q. Was math you favorite subject as a kid? • “As a kid I enjoyed both Math and PE.” Q. What is your favorite thing to do outside of school? A. “I really enjoy training for marathons and watching sporting events.”
