An example of this is when Jake and Cornelius walk to Huapai to gather supplies and find help, but nobody is there. So Jake walks back to Sam, and Cornelius continues to walk on and find help.

Cornelius went on, I came back”. This shows that Cornelius is determined that he will find help for him and his friends.
