  1. Black Sea University Foundation 20 years of scientific debates in the Black Sea Region

WHO WE ARE ? • The Black Sea University Foundation is a regional, non-governmental and non-profit organization mainly concerned with the promotion of better understanding and research of the economy, society, education and governance of the Black Sea region and its place relative to the rest of the world, and the development of means to advance the interests of the region internationally.

  3. Founded in 1992 at the Black Sea Economic Cooperation inaugural conference by Acad. Mircea Malita, diplomat, writer, polymath. From 2011 the President of BSUF is Amb. Liviu Aurelian BOTA former UN high-ranking diplomat.

  4. About 30 international courses were held each year until 2001 and about 10 workshops and sympozia per year in the last decade of activity. This events were attended by over 6,000 participants from more then 40 countries. The courses’ topics are included in five major chapters: • “Management and Economics”, • “Ecology & Sea Resources”, • “International Relations • Conflict Prevention”, • “Advanced and Applied Science”, • “Culture and Contemporary Problems”.

Some published materials: • “Artificial Life - Grammar Models” • “The Black Sea and Danube Delta System in the Global Changes Impact” • “Chaitin Complexity”, which enjoyed the presence of its initiator (Gregory Chaitin); • “Molecular Computing”, organized by the Romanian Academy’s Mathematics Research Institute; • “Bioelectronics”, held by the Nobel Prize laureate – Ivar Giavaer (USA).

  6. HOW WE WORK? Head of Network (HoN) of Anna Lindh Foundation for Romania since 2007. BSUF works for and with civil society in encouraging inter-cultural dialogue in the region, educational and development issues, encouraging members to meet with other national or international institutions or NGOs, to develop common projects and strengthen partnerships across the Euromed area(developing, managing projects, raising funds, develop common projects etc.).

  7. CONFLICT PREVENTION CENTER • Conflict Prevention Studies Centre was created, enjoying UNDP financial support for its regional dimension and is being assisted by the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research through its CERES National Program. • Each year, at least one course or a seminar is devoted to conflict prevention or peaceful resolution, focusing on the theory as well as the practice of negotiations.

  8. EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES LABORATORY • Research and development unit to address the challenges of today's mapping of technology, knowledge and learning systems on the way towards a Knowledge Society. Past project: • “UniSMART – Modular Systems for Information Technology Assisted Higher Education” 2002-2004 • “Mathematical models in the development of e-learning systems databases” 2004-2005 • “Computer Training of Trainers” 2003 • “Competitive Use of the Information Technology in Education” 2005-2007
