  1. Imagination “Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.” Ezekiel 8:12

  2. Imagination The faculty or action of forming ideas or images in the mind. The ability of the mind to be creative or resourceful. The act or power of forming a mental image of something not present to the senses or never before wholly perceived in reality.

  3. Imagination Can lead to sin Genesis 6:5 “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Intention = ESV Intent = NKJV Flood

  4. Imagination Can lead to sin “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” Romans 1:21 Multitude of sins

  5. Prodigal Son Imagination Luke 15:11-32 • Imagined how pleasant sin would be • Heb. 11:25 “pleasures of sin for a season” • Did not imagine the hog pen !!! • Imagination brought him Home • Luke 15:17-19 - remembered • “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Prov. 4:23

  6. David Imagination II Samuel 11 • Saw a Beautiful woman • Matt. 5:28 “to lust after her” • Did not think of consequences of his sin “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me”. Ps. 51:10

  7. Imagination Golden Rule Matt. 7:12 “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” How do I want to be treated ? Love, Kindness, Honesty, Fair 1 Jn. 3:15 = hates his brother Matt. 5:44 = love your enemy

  8. Imagination Golden Rule • Never misquote others • Receive the benefit of the doubt • Not to spread slander • Not to embarrass • Treat other women the way I want my wife to be treated • In the Church: • Preacher, Elders, Deacons, Song Leaders, Teachers

  9. Imagination Are you Using ? • Within the Church • Pure, separated from world • Eph. 5:26-27 • Love one another • United • Willing to work • Concerned about the Lost • Care for the poor

  10. Imagination Are you Using ? • Spiritual Growth • Praying • Studying the Bible • Diligent in attendance • Teaching the Lost • Sacrificial giving

  11. Imagination Are you Using ? • Heaven - Judgment • Meeting God • Talking to Jesus • Great Characters of Bible • Crowd at judgment • Hearing God say: “Well done thou good and faithful servant”

  12. Imagination Surrendering life to God Baptized for remission of sins Visualize the Lord knocking at the door of your heart “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Rev.3:20
