  1. Science Station Life Cycle of a Plant 2

  2. Welcome Welcome students! Today we will: Review the life cycle of a plant. Begin planting our own plant.

  3. Plant Life Cycle In our last lesson we discussed the different steps in the life cycle of a plant. Let’s look at the life cycle again to give you a quick reminder.

  4. Plant Life Cycle First, there is a seed.

  5. Plant Life Cycle After the seed is planted in the ground, the seed begins to grow and turns into a seedling (a baby plant).

  6. Plant Life Cycle The plant grows and grows and eventually turns into an adult plant.

  7. Plant Life Cycle Sometimes animals and even the wind carry pollen from one plant to another, which helps the plant to reproduce and create new seeds.

  8. Plant Life Cycle Those new seeds are then dispersed by the wind, animals, and people. Now the new seeds can begin growing into plants.

  9. Plant Life Cycle Eventually without sunlight, water, or care the plant might die.

  10. Plant Life Cycle After the plant dies, the pieces of the plant dry up and fall off. Decomposing (or breaking down into small pieces) on the ground.

  11. Plant Life Cycle • That is the entire plant life cycle that we have discussed in our lessons. Now I would like for us to see the plant life cycle first hand. I am going to plant a plant for us to see and watch grow. If you are able to get these materials at home, I suggest you plant your own plant at home and watch it grow.

  12. Our Plant • First of all we need to make something for our plant to go into. We don’t have the money to buy a pot, so I would like to make one with some things I have at home, like newspaper and tape. Do you have newspaper or a thick paper and tape at home? Watch me go!

  13. Our Plant • The next thing we will do is fill our seed with potting soil. I bought some potting soil from the store. You might be able to find good soil at your house. All soil is not good for plants, so make sure you choose soil that you notice plants are growing in.

  14. Our Plant Now we will poke holes in the soil so we have a place for the seeds to go. I will plant just a few seeds in the soil and cover the seeds up.

  15. Our Plant • We will water our seed. We don’t want to put too much water in the pot, just make sure there is enough water so that the soil is moist.

  16. Our Plant Finally, we will sit the plant in a sunny spot so that it can begin to grow!!

  17. Next Time Next time, we will see how much our plant has grown. Until then, I will water it a little bit every day and keep it in the sun. See you soon!
