  3. Grants.gov What is it ? How is FTA using it today ?Tomorrow ? How it affects you.

  4. Grants.gov – What is it ? • (from the website) Allows organizations to electronically find and apply for competitive grant opportunities from all Federal grant-making agencies. THE single access point for over 900 grant programs offered by the 26 Federal grant-making agencies. • Fills a great need for agencies that do not have an electronic system for collecting and processing grant applications.

Grants.gov & The FTA • Competitive programs posted • Over the Road Bus • Users can FIND the opportunity and APPLY by downloading an APPLICATION PACKAGE • Completed APPLICATION PACKAGE Materials are stored on S:\OTRB and Regional Notification is sent • Mandatory programs • System to System (TEAM<->Grants.gov) interface currently under construction

  6. Grants.gov – How it affects you • Millions of users daily • Know the website, be able to walk your grantees through the process of finding and applying • Manage incoming applications accordingly

  10. Recipient Contacts in TEAMWhen? • NOW ! It’s never too early ! • Recipient Contact Consolidation Effort underway… • Migrating all offline recipient contact data into TEAM, office by office • Target Completion Date: September 2005!

  14. Paperless DOL process • Project sent electronically for DOL certification thru TEAM • DOL replies via email to an FTA DOL inbox, Union emails provided on the project and recipient record. • DOL Attaches certification to TEAM Project Record

  17. Grants Release & Notification • What is an Earmark? • What is the “Release Process” • What is the Grants Notification System (GNS)? • What does this mean to you?

  18. Grants in the Release Process: Important Points! • TEAM project data must match the Talking Points Document • including congressional district! • “Talking Points” Word documents will go away when Earmark functionality is completed in TEAM – stay tuned!

Tracking Earmarks - Process • Annual list of earmarks in TEAM loaded for further identification by regions • Federal Register publication with ID Numbers • Grants are associated with Earmarks in TEAM • Earmark Managers finalize talking points, monitor balances before reserving funds • Reserve funds, then send thru Release Process electronically thru TEAM • TEAM feeds to GNS, grant is released (FTA/OST) • Earmark/Grant Manager can obligate

  21. Tracking Earmarks – When ? • 2006: • TPM will publish ID’s in the Federal Register • Refer to this ID when communicating with TPM about obligations, status, etc. (All program tracking spreadsheets will be updated to include it) • TEAM Earmark functionality coming soon! Comments ENCOURAGED!
