Current Events (Set 29) 1. “South Carolina Marks the Day the Cannons Roared at Fort Sumter Starting the Civil War.” Confederates opened fire on April 12, 1861 (34 hours) bombarding Fort Sumter in an attack that last 2 days. Confederate Re-enactor Union Major Anderson surrendered after 34 hours of shelling; there were no casualties

Rebel: I was a just a poor backcountry farmer Yankee: I worked in a textile (clothes) factory Rebel: Factory workers are treated worse than than slaves on plantations!
