Many students struggle with math, with up to 50% not achieving success in Grades 3, 6, and 9, as indicated by recent EQAO results. Traditional direct instruction is often ineffective. To address this issue, educators should explore innovative solutions that foster real-world connections and motivation. Encouraging active learning methods such as manipulatives, technology, and cooperative learning can enhance engagement. Involving students in the learning process and addressing individual differences are crucial approaches to improve outcomes and develop a positive attitude toward mathematics.
