Serving Light in Darkness: A Tale of Community Resilience

Amid adversity, the community in McCloud rose to the occasion, serving over 1000 meals with makeshift resources, becoming a beacon of hope. Volunteers, donations, and resilience combined to create a powerful impact. As the community rallied together, a new sense of unity and purpose emerged. The spirit of service shone through every meal, every act of kindness, and every connection made.   1. We Served 1019 Meals, Praise God!

  3. The power went off on Tuesday morning

  4. On Wednesday we began to cook

  5. We worked with what we had

  6. Our makeshift hand washing station

  7. Our Candlelit Bathroom

  8. We had to boil hot water to wash dishes

  9. And Then Came The Generator…

  10. Praise God!!!

  11. Our church became a bright light in a dark town

  12. And people were drawn to it

  13. Families warmed their bodies

  14. And we began to warm their bellies

  15. People kept coming

  16. And we just kept serving

  17. So many people came to help

  18. Bathrooms were cleaned

  19. Drinks were restocked

  20. The Sidewalks were shoveled

  21. Labor on electrical wiring was donated

  22. The fuel for the generators was always stocked

  23. Donations were given

  24. And more donations were given

  25. Dishes were washed…

  26. With water boiled on the stove

  27. Laundry was washed and dried by hand

  28. The Siskiyou County Department of Human Services bought us groceries that helped us serve four meals.

  29. The Office of Emergency Services provided a generator

  30. The resource Center scheduled meal deliveries to those in need…

  31. and volunteers delivered them

  32. A prayer was said before every meal with all who were in the building

  33. Most of our meals were from scratch This photo is proof Theo can peel potatoes 

  34. We cooked up a storm

  35. If we can do this much now, imagine what we can do with a new kitchen 

  36. We were a 24 hour shelter for a few nights…

  37. And the children had a ball!

  38. This girl cried when it was time to go. Her parents asked about Sunday school. Praise God!

  39. Matthew 5:14"You are the light of the world. A cityon a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
