About Pancreatic Cancer • Pancreas is a gland behind your stomach and in front of your spine. • Produces juices that help break down food and the hormones that control blood sugar levels. • Pancreatic cancer starts in the cells • Symptoms do not show easily • Symptoms do not show right away after you are diognosed

  3. Symptoms • Yellowing of skin and Eyes • Pain in the abdomen and back • Weight Loss • Tired • Pain in upper abdomen • Darkened urine • Diarrhea • Back Pain

  4. Cause of Pancreatic Cancer • Cause of this disease is a tumor • The size and location, of the tumor depends whether or not it is serious

  5. Frequency or rate of Pancreatic Cancer • 1-5 years Survival rates are 25% and 6% • 80% of people diagnosed with it from 6-10 months • 30% of people diagnosed with this disease are men • African Americans are more likely to get pancreatic cancer

  6. Risk Factors • Some risk factors for getting pancreatic cancer: • Smoking a lot • Long-term diabetes • Hereditary disorders

  7. How is the disease diagnosed? • If patients has pain in upper abdomen and pain radiates to lower back • The symptoms • Location of the cancer • CT Scan • Computed tomography • Endoscopic needle biopsy • Endoscopic ultrasound • ‘

  8. What is treatment? • Surgery • Radiation • Chemotherapy • Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors
