  12. RESUMEN SOBRE MOSQUITOS (1) DEFINICIÓN: infestación por Dípteros, Nematóceros, Culicidae: Culex, Aedes, Anopheles, y otros. RECONOCIMIENTO: Dípteros: 2 alas; Nematóceros: antenas con >6 segmentos; Culicidae: patas, boca, antenas, y cuerpo largos y delgados, escamas sobre las alas. BIOLOGÍA: hematófagos temporarios (), poco espe- cíficos, metamorfosis completa, pre-adultos en agua de cualquier clase IMPORTANCIA MÉDICA: picada indolora, molestan, chupan sangre, producen alergias IV y I, transmiten Anaplasma, cólera porcino, anemia infecciona equina, encefalitis equinas, Dirofilaria, viruelas aviarias, mala- ria, fiebre amarilla, filariasis, etc. (¡caso del canal de Panamá!)

  13. RESUMEN SOBRE MOSQUITOS (2) DIAGNÓSTICO: adultos sobre animales (captura con redes o insecticidas), pre-adultos en aguas (¡evaluación!) TRATAMIENTO: Insecticidas o repelentes (DEET) sobre animales (¡caro!) o murallas (limitado en espacio y tiempo) EPIDEMIOLOGÍA: depende de agua, huevos de Aedes y Psorophora resisten desecación y se pueden desarrollar en aguas temporarias CONTROL: ¡Complejo! Mejor contra pre-adultos: drenar aguas, rellenar lagunas, emparejar canales, cubrir tanques, secar arrozales 1 día/semana. Tratamien- tos del agua con aceites livianos, acetoarsenito Cu, surfactantes (lecitina), insecticidas, hormonas del crecimiento (metopreno), inhibidores de la quitina (diflubenzurón), toxina B. thuringiensis var. israelensis
