This season, college basketball officiating has drawn criticism from fans, particularly UofL supporters who feel their team's losses stem from poor officiating. Across the board, teams have faced questionable calls, with even UK struggling at times. Despite the advent of video review aiming to correct mistakes, clearer evidence now highlights the referees' errors. The debate continues: Are officials worse than before, or just more scrutinized? Regardless, fans agree that all teams deserve fair treatment from referees, regardless of their standing in the league.

KSR UofLfans may have a point that officiating for them has been awful this season. They will blame many of their losses on the Ray Charles and Helen Kellers they find to officiate the low profile, nobody cares games of the Big East. (Oh wait, my bad that’s football. And will it still be the Big East or will it be the Big Nation, or the East/West Connection or everybody but Oklahoma, whatever). However, officiating in general has been bad across the board for college basketball. Even UK has had to work hard to overcome disastrous call after disastrous call, of course we have still won even when Louisville has loss, but regardless whether your team is average or whether it is amazing teams deserve good officiating
From a Courier Journal Editorial For my part, I don’t think it’s any worse than it ever has been, and it might be better. The advent of limited video review at least makes some calls correctable. But all the video being shot means we have clearer evidence of mistakes than ever before, too.
