Greenprint Action Agenda • Sets 1- and 5-year City goals: • GHG reduction, City EE/RE, green building • Tree planting, water conservation, water quality • Recycling, paper consumption, City purchasing • Blueprint Denver, FasTracks, bike accessibility • Green workforce and business development

  13. Climate Action Plan • Adopted October 2007 with two goals: • 10% per capita GHG reduction by 2012 • 25% absolute GHG reduction by 2020

  14. Current Programs • Legacy project of the 2008 DNC • Launched on Earth Day, 2010 • 500 bicycles at 50 stations • First year statistics • 102,981 rides • 211,111 miles • ~16,000 gallons of gasoline avoided • 6.3 million calories burned

Neighborhood Outreach • Working with non-profit partners and neighborhood green teams to connect residents with sustainability resources • Since April 2009: • Knocked on over 12,000 doors • 2,750 residents took at least one action • Enhanced resources for 2011: • Low-income EE/insulation services • Extended insulation rebates • Energy Advisor program for residents and businesses

  16. Current Programs • Mile High Million Tree Planting • Over 200,000 trees planted to date • Trees for Energy Savings program • Training veterans to plant 4,000 trees to shade Denver homes

Current Programs • City Leading By Example • Working with City agencies to reduce the City’s utilities budget • Promoting renewable energy – solar PV, landfill methane plant, geothermal at Denver Museum of Nature and Science, anaerobic digestion at Denver Zoo • 1st U.S. city with ISO 14001-certified EMS covering all operations

  18. National Recognition • 1st place, USCM Climate Protection Award – 2009 • 1st place, Siemens Sustainable Community Award – 2009 • Ranked among municipal sustainability leaders by SustainLane
