  2. Fluency • Learning Target: I can read the interview with scientist Bryson Voirin with fluency. • Definition: the ability to speak easily and smoothly

  3. Informational Text • While learning about the rainforest we have been reading and analyzing different types of informational texts. • Definition: Text that communicates knowledge or information. For example, interviews, articles, or websites.

  4. Conservationist • In fact, conservationist have placed images of it on t-shirts, baseball hats, and even garbage trucks. • Definition: Someone who works to protect plants or animals.

  5. Transcript • The interview we read with Bryson was a transcript of what he said. It was spoken and then transcribed into written text. • Definition: a written, printed, or typed copy of words that have been spoken

  6. limelight • The happy-faced spider generally tries to stay out of the limelight. It lives its life on the undersides of leaves in the rainforest. • Definition: the focus of attention

  7. Fauna • They hope to use this as a way to bring attention to the loss of various fauna throughout Hawaii. • Definition: The animals of a particular region or habitat.

  11. poaching • In an area like this, where poaching and trophy hunting are happening, we are really putting these animals at a disadvantage because, how can they tell the difference between somebody carrying a tripod and a camera, and somebody carrying a rifle. • Definition: The illegal hunting, killing, or capturing of wild animals.
