  3. VISION STATEMENT • Every child in Idaho has the right to read and it is the responsibility of all the adults in their life to ensure that they do

  4. FOCUS OF IDAHO READS! • HOME * SCHOOL * COMMUNITY

  5. HOME • Empower parents to be the first and best reading teachers • Ensure that all kids have books • Ensure that all children arrive at school ready to read

  6. SCHOOL • Ensure that all children are reading by 4th Grade • Raise Idaho’s reading proficiency scores to top tier of states

  7. COMMUNITY • Support and encourage community-based reading and literacy programs

  8. WHAT CAN IDAHO READS! DO? • Create an Idaho Reads! website that is a one-stop resource for parents, schools and community groups • Create social media platforms where parents, teachers and community groups can share best practices • Host a data bank that tracks reading metrics • Create Idaho Reading! marketing and communication campaigns • Support policy changes to drive greater reading proficiency • Encourage and support community-based reading initiatives
