Holocaust • The Holocaust also known as haShoah is the term generally used to describe the genocide of approximately six million European Jews • during World War II, as part of a program of deliberate and systematic state-sponsored extermination planned and executed by Nazi Germany under Adolf Hitler

Exodus jewish • The waves of immigration to the United States and elsewhere at the turn of the nineteenth century. • the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, the majority of the 850,000 Jews previously living in North Africa and the Middle East fled to Israel, joining an increasing number of immigrants from post-War Europe. By the end of the 20th century, Jewish population centers had shifted dramatically, with the United States and Israel being the centers of Jewish secular and religious life.

Jewish refugees • In the course of history, Jewish populations have been expelled or ostracized by various local authorities and have sought asylum from anti-Semitism numerous times. • After its establishment in 1948, the State of Israel adopted the 1950 Law of Return making Israel a home not only for the inhabitants of the State, but also for all members of the Jewish people everywhere. This law also made Israel an ideal destination for voluntary Jewish immigration.
