Statement of Purpose CTAC’spurpose is to function as an advisory committee to the Wayzata Schools regarding the following technology matters: • Provide input on priorities for student educational experience and technology. • Short- and long-term technology planning input. • Review technology policies and practices. • Technology decisions impact analysis. • Local, state, and national trends in technology and implementation. • Legislative issues impacting technology in education. • Provide input into the financial impact of technology and implementation.

  4. Purpose \ Why are we here? To collaborate around technology initiatives that will enhance the educational experience in alignment with the district's Vision, Mission, Directions and Values.

  5. Summary of Outcomes • We will create group norms that will guide us in our future work. • We will provide reporting about current technology initiatives to develop understanding. • We will provide visibility into the current learning environment to create a common language and understanding. • We seek to understand the current educational environment at WPS to help shape future design • We will build a foundation of knowledge • We will design outcomes for our next meeting.

Protocols \ Norms • Be fully present     • Communicate honestly and openly  • Keep discussion positive • Focus on the future with a can do attitude/Student centered outcomes and agendas • Clear objectives and action items/Purpose of meeting stated clearly • Collaboration of ideas from various industries/Assumption of learning

  7. Protocols \ Norms Activity Activity: 10 min • Reflect on a positive meeting experience, what behaviors made the meeting effective? • Write down two themes on post it • Get up and greet others, listen to their experience and explain yours • Reflect in your groups about common themes

  11. What should this look like? Technology in schools should be like oxygen: ubiquitous, necessary, and invisible. • This is how technology is in adult workplaces. • Can you imagine how unproductive you would be in your job if you had to schedule a time next Thursday for 45 minutes in order to use the computer (as teachers now have to do for students to use the lab(s) in their schools)? Educational technology needs to help schools succeed in their core mission – providing students with the skills, knowledge, and disposition they need to be productive, responsible, well-informed citizens living in a democracy that is part of a small, “flat” world.
