  3. Activating Microsoft Azure Storage Activating Microsoft Azure storage, an AZDPS engagement, is designed to help customers that have purchased a Microsoft Azure storage solution with StorSimple or CommVault but have not activated Microsoft Azure. The engagement will help them connect their ISV solution to Microsoft Azure and start realizing the value of their investment. ISV Solutions Overview CommVault StorSimple • A single enterprise storage solution that provides on-premise storage integrated with Azure Storage • Intelligent data tiering that delivers enterprise performance for apps and moves infrequently accessed data into Azure • Data de-duplication & compression • End-to-end data management providing live archives, backups with cloud snapshots and DR • File shares, SharePoint,Archives, VMs • A single archive management solution for on-premise and data stored in Microsoft Azure • Automated near real-time data archiving to the cloud • Data compression & encryption • Exchange & SharePoint integration for data archiving • Heterogeneous Systems support for Windows, Linux, UNIX etc. • Geo-replication options for storage on Microsoft Azure

  4. Engagement Options for Activating Microsoft Azure Storage Choose from 3, 5 or 10 days ACTIVITY

  5. Engagement Structure Customize the engagement to meet your customer’s unique requirements Engagement Activities Understand the customer’s business objectives and assess the storage environment for Microsoft Azure readiness Create a Storage Utilization Plan to prepare the customer to migrate workloads to Microsoft Azure Connect the customer’s storage solution (StorSimple or CommVault) to Microsoft Azure Run production pilots to demonstrate the value or storage with Microsoft Azure If your knowledge of your customer environment allows you to move more quickly through the engagement and complete further steps than those suggested in the engagement, feel free to skip ahead. The program will honor the engagement as long as the final required deliverable reflects and justifies the tasks completed.

  6. Activating Azure Storage 3 Day Engagement Activities • Pre-engagement Questionnaire • Azure Readiness Assessment (with or without MAP Toolkit)See the Readiness Assessment Overview and MAP Toolkit for more information. • Storage Utilization Planning • Optional Production Pilot • Deliverables • Planning Services Completion Report • Optional Production Pilots • If time allows, consider conducting a small production pilot to activate Microsoft Azure and begin to demonstrate the benefits. Below are some options, but feel free to migrate any workload or application that is appropriate for your customer. • See production pilot options and supporting resources in the Production Pilot Suggestions section, but feel free to migrate any workload or application that is appropriate for your customer.

  7. Activating Azure Storage 5 day engagement overview Activities • Pre-engagement Questionnaire • Azure Readiness AssessmentSee the Readiness Assessment Overview and MAP Toolkit for more information. • Storage Utilization Plan • ISV Solution Activation • Moderate Production Pilot • Deliverables • Planning Services Completion Report • Production Pilot Suggestions • Pilot one or two workloads, or more if time allows, to begin to demonstrate the ease and value of activating Microsoft Azure for storage. • See the full list of Production Pilot suggestions and supporting resources on in the Production Pilot Suggestions section. Feel free to pilot any workload that makes sense for you customer, even if it’s not on the list.

  8. Activating Microsoft Azure Storage 10 day engagement overview Activities • Pre-engagement Questionnaire • Microsoft Azure Readiness AssessmentSee the Readiness Assessment Overview and MAP Toolkit for more information. • Storage Utilization Plan • ISV Solution Activation • Moderate Production Pilot • Deliverables • Planning Services Completion Report • Production Pilot Suggestions • Pilot three to five workloads, or more if time allows, to begin to demonstrate the ease and value of activating Microsoft Azure for storage. • See the full list of Production Pilot suggestions and supporting resources on in the Production Pilot Suggestions section. Feel free to pilot any workload that makes sense for you customer, even if it’s not on the list.

  9. Microsoft Azure Readiness Assessment Overview Review the completed pre-engagement questionnaire or work with the customer to complete it. Catalog all of the applications in the environment:Inventory and report on web application portfolios and SQL Server database instances. Microsoft Azure Readiness Assessment & Capacity Assessment: • Estimate the needed capacity to run applications on the Microsoft Azure Platform • Evaluate applications based on migration difficulty • Stack rank applications in terms of migration suitability • Obtain a TCO-ROI analysis for the application Determine best workloads for Production Pilot Optional MAP Toolkit. To help in assessing the environment, consider running the Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit for Microsoft Azure Platform which automates the assessment process.

  10. About Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit for Microsoft Azure Platform MAP's inventory assessment feature the discovery and detailed inventory reporting of web applications, IIS Server, SQL Servers and databases. MAP analyzes the performance characteristics of the inventoried web applications and databases, and helps in prioritizing the applications for migration to the Microsoft Azure platform. Utilizing this information MAP provides an estimate on the resources required such as the number of Microsoft Azure compute instances, number of SQL Microsoft Azure databases, bandwidth usage, and storage. The Microsoft Assessment and Planning (MAP) Toolkit for Microsoft Azure Platform includes a 3-step process: • Inventorying and assessing the customer environment • Capturing performance metrics of the web applications and databases • Reviewing and customizing workloads for Microsoft Azure features capacity estimates • In addition to the analysis, MAP provides comprehensive reports that include: • Web Application and Database DiscoveryDetails on the inventoried web applications and SQL Server database instances to help plan for the migration of on-premises workloads to the Microsoft Azure Platform • Microsoft Azure Platform Capacity AssessmentMicrosoft Azure compute instances and database storage requirements for deploying workloads on the Microsoft Azure Platform

  11. Storage Utilization Plan Outline Based on your customer’s storage objectives and the Microsoft Azure Readiness Assessment results, create a plan to help your customer activate Microsoft Azure storage and get the most out of their storage investment. Current Customer Situation: Storage assessment, business requirements, solutions considered Team Members and Contacts Microsoft Azure Storage Solution • Recommended workloads suitable for moving to Microsoft Azure including: • Importance and expected ROI\benefits • Complexity • Time and resources required • Overall plan milestones and timeline • Production Pilot plan and goals Customer Execution Plan • Pre-implementation tasks • Checks and baseline performance and status • Recommendations for ISV tool implementation • Existing workloads to be migrated. For each component, consider including: • Business use, foreseeable problems, application characteristics and requirements • Expected benefits of migrating to Microsoft Azure • On-premises and Microsoft Azure storage requirements and design • Technical specifications of implementation • Environment performance testing and QA • Milestones and timeline  Post Implementation Tasks • Integrate the new instance into the environment • Post implementation maintenance plan • Required activities managing and maintaining Microsoft Azure • Security • Training requirements Summary • New environment risks • Next steps

  12. Production Pilot Suggestions Below is a list if suggested production pilots with supporting resources.
