  1. SU activities pendant LS1 • CMS • ALICE

  2. CMSQuoi (quelles activités prévues pendant le LS1) At the beginning: • Network measurement and cavern floor stability • Stability measurement after run period for beam pipe, TAS • Measurements during detector opening In between: • Installation of shielding wheels YE4 Z+ and Z- • Longitudinal TAS56 alignment • Calibration of 36 MABs in I4 (ISR) • Photogrammetry of all barrel faces after Muon chamber and MABs maintenance • Installation of new central beam pipe • Including network update, survey for installation tools and infrastructure • Preparation new procedure for survey during YE1 closure • Preparation MAB survey in magnetic field • Alignment of Forward Pixel detectors, Pixel Luminosity Telescope and Alignment Ring • Maintenance and upgrade of BCAM and HLS system Towards the end: • Re-installation forward beampipe • Measurements during closure of CMS • Re-Alignment of Totem • Stability measurement of TAS • Non-planned activities can be substantial • In parallel the analysis and reports for the above mentioned works

  3. CMSQuand (planning des activités) Planning from CMS coordination GAP for detector survey = Time for survey work on infrastructure

  4. CMSPar qui (quelles sont les personnes qui vont intervenir) • Antje (starting beginning of May 2013 – in-field work after May?) • Aurelie • CMS project associate (still to be finalized) • Contract • Other colleagues according to availability

  5. CMSStatut de la préparation/problèmes non résolus • New alignment procedure for beampipe at +/- 13.4m under discussion • Adapter and target definition for beampipe, especially central beampipe, under discussion (ALARA - permanent adapter, targets…) • HLS automatic purging/filling system under discussion • YE4 support design not completely decided on CMS side • Access to survey gallery under discussion

  6. ALICEQuoi (quelles activités prévues pendant le LS1) At the beginning: • Network maintenance and measurement with link to Low Beta region left and right • Stability measurement after run period of support structure central detectors, beampipe, TRD, EMCAL, PMD and HMPID In between: • New detector installation: DCAL rails and cradle with DCAL modules, more TRD modules, HMPID re-installation, PHOS re-installation, more DCAL modules, more TRD modules • Including survey for installation tools and infrastructure, alignment of detector, deformation control of support structure • Exchange Muon tracking ST1 and ST2 Towards the end: • Network measurement with link to Low Beta region left and right • Beampipe re-installation RB24 • Stability measurement after detector installation of support structure central detectors • Detector survey for physics TRD, EMCAL, HMPID, PMD, ZEM • Alignment compensator magnet • Muon Tracking and Trigger chambers • Non-planned activities can be substantial • In parallel the analysis and reports for the above mentioned works

  7. ALICEQuand (planning des activités) • Survey planning has to follow ALICE planning • For the moment ALICE has only a monthly/weekly schedule for the global projects including survey • Detailed schedule including the individual survey tasks will be regularly updated by Technical Coordination in the Friday morning meetings

  8. ALICEPar qui (quelles sont les personnes qui vont intervenir) • Francis • Antje (starting beginning of May 2013 – in-field work after May?) • Nail (~60%, first slice from 11. February to 11. May 2013) • Contract • Other colleagues according to availability

  9. ALICEStatut de la préparation/problèmes non résolus • ALARA is less critical in ALICE except link of survey network to low beta regions • Opening of ‘survey windows’ in shielding in between cavern and low beta regions RB24 and RB26 under discussion • Opening of MAD between cavern and bypass tunnel under discussion • Design of shielding RB26 under discussion to keep ‘survey window’ also for future

  10. CMS + ALICEComment (quelles sont les procédures ?) • Most tasks will be repeated from former installation or survey • Outcome is well documented in survey reports on EDMS (with additional information for clients but also for us) • New tasks will be performed according to discussions In general it can be stated that: • Survey points are defined in advance • Survey procedures, especially survey stations, have to be adapted to the current situation during installation

  11. Matériel Instrumentation: • AT401, TC2002, Photogrammetry, Level, Laser scanner • General tooling or special CMS or ALICE adapted tooling Software: • CARNET, Spatial Analyzer, LGC, Shapes, Chaba, AICON 3D Studio, Geomagic

  12. Conclusion • Main works for CMS and ALICE are well defined and planned • Continous work during complete LS1 for CMS • Experience shows a high probability of last minute demands for CMS and ALICE • There is a high concentration of survey activities for CMS and ALICE at the beginning and at the end of LS1
