Understanding Mise-en-Scène and Lighting Techniques in Film

This exercise focuses on analyzing two mise-en-scène techniques and one lighting technique from the films "Gangs of New York" and "Dracula." Students should identify and describe how these techniques enhance the scene's meaning, atmosphere, and character development without critiquing their quality. Emphasis is placed on understanding the visual storytelling components that contribute to mood, foreshadowing, and narrative clarity. Responses must be handwritten and submitted at the end of the class to earn points.
